Sell digital products securely
Digital-product files are kept in private storage. Customers receive an order link after a verified payment; each click creates a short-lived private download URL.
Configure digital sales
- Open Shop > Settings.
- Enter the seller's two-letter business-country code.
- Choose whether to sell domestically, only in selected countries, worldwide except selected countries, or worldwide.
- Enter selected or excluded two-letter country codes when required.
- Set the default number of downloads per file and the private-link lifetime.
- Choose the current tax handling. The seller is responsible for registrations, rates, reporting and remittance. The current Payment Element checkout supports the manual shop tax rate; Stripe Tax and Managed Payments need separate checkout integrations.
Add a digital product
- Add or edit a product.
- Set Product type to Digital download or Physical product with included downloads.
- Add files under Digital files. A new empty slot appears after each upload, and each file starts uploading as soon as you choose it. The slot shows its upload and secure-storage progress. You do not need to save the product first. Each file can be up to 20 MB (or less if your site has a lower configured limit), and total usage follows the website storage allowance.
- Leave Track stock off for unlimited sales, or turn it on and enter the number of sales available.
- Open File and delivery settings below the slots to set the download limit, access period, previous-purchaser access, selling countries and optional Stripe tax code. These settings apply to all active files.
- Save the product details when they are ready. Replacing or removing a file on an existing product happens immediately; the editor will not allow the final file to be removed from a live digital or hybrid product until a replacement has been uploaded.
A digital-only basket asks for billing details but does not ask for a shipping method. A mixed basket still requires shipping. A free digital basket creates a completed order without contacting Stripe.
Products can mix physical, digital and hybrid variations. Set each variation's Fulfilment independently, then assign a digital file to every variation or to one specific variation using Available with. An order records the purchased variation and grants the shared and variation-specific files that apply to it.
Manage access
Open the order in Shop administration to see the granted files, download count, last download and current access status. A full Stripe refund automatically revokes all downloads for that order. Access can also be revoked or restored manually.
Removing or replacing a product file retires that version and stops granting it on new orders. Existing purchasers keep the file version recorded in their entitlement. There is no ordinary five-file content limit. Storage is the main allowance, with configurable technical safeguards for active files per product and per website to prevent abuse. The editor displays those safeguards, and Nune can review them for a legitimate larger catalogue. Retired files do not count as active files.
Open Settings > Website Usage to permanently delete retired files that have never been granted to a customer order. Files connected to purchase history remain protected and cannot be removed by this cleanup.
