Keep your product page clear

A good product page doesn't need to be complicated. Start with the information your customer needs to understand what you're selling and make a confident decision.

Tip: Write for someone seeing the product for the first time. Don't assume they already know what it is, how it works or why they might choose it.

Use the short description for the essentials

Your short description is one of the first things a customer sees. Keep it concise and concentrate on the information that matters most.

What is it?

Describe the product clearly rather than relying on the product name alone.

Why choose it?

Highlight the most useful benefit, feature or reason someone might buy it.

Who is it for?

Help customers quickly recognise whether the product suits their needs.

Let your images do some of the work

Choose a strong main image and use the product gallery for additional views, close-up details, packaging, scale or examples of the product in use.

Think about what a customer would examine if they were holding the product in their hands and use your photographs to answer those questions.

Add the details customers need

The full description is the place for information that doesn't need to compete with the main buying controls. Depending on the product, that might include dimensions, materials, what's included, care instructions, compatibility, delivery information or frequently asked questions.

More information isn't automatically better. Include information that helps someone understand, choose or use the product and leave out anything that simply makes the page longer.

Before you publish

  • Check the product name and price.
  • Make sure the stock level is correct.
  • Choose the most appropriate category.
  • Add a clear main image and useful gallery images.
  • Check the description for unanswered questions.
  • Select the correct shipping settings where required.
  • Review the search title and description.
  • View the finished page on both desktop and mobile.

Start simple. You can always add more information later if customers need it.

A simple product is often all you need. Use a clear summary to explain what you're selling, who it's for and the most important reason someone might want it.

Add a strong main image, useful gallery images, an accurate price and stock level, then use the full description for everything a customer may want to know before buying.

Bundle

Bundles encourage customers to buy related products together by offering an automatic saving. Choose the products and quantities that make up the bundle, then set either a percentage or fixed discount. When the required combination is added to the customer's basket, the bundle saving is applied automatically. They're useful for starter sets, complementary products, gift collections and other items that make sense to buy together.
